The New Zealander started Saturday's first moto confidently after regular training sessions in Benelux sand during the last couple of weeks and she forced her way into a solid third place behind two Dutch girls already during the first half lap. She held this position comfortably until the closing stages of the race when the two championship leaders were chasing her; she was still fourth entering the final two laps but a fall proved decisive and she had to be content with fifth. Hopes of the podium suffered a severe blow at the start of the second moto when she tagged another rider in the first turn and had to rebound from last after falling. She had already recovered to a points -scoring position by the end of the first lap and was eleventh within two laps but then faced a long chase to advance further. By lap six she had burst into the top-ten and immediately made another pass for ninth before taking her eventual eighth three laps from the finish. A 5-8 weekend earnt sixth overall and she heads to Australia fourth in the series standings, just six points shy of a potential medal-winning third.
Courtney Duncan: "It was a tough weekend for sure. I was running third, then fourth for most of the first race yesterday but then I made a mistake on the second-to-last lap which cost me. Today I went down in the first turn; enough said! The race was pretty tough after that but I tried to salvage what I could and managed P8. The track was tough, but it's the same for everyone. On to the next one now and see if we can finish the series off on a high."
