Bacon happy at 2026 EnduroGP Season Opener

Custonaci – Italy – kicked off the 2026 EnduroGP World Championship season and marked the start of the racing year for Kyron Bacon. The Australian rider returned to the MGR Racing Team colours at this opening Grand Prix of the season, delivering a solid performance.

Back in action after his recent injury, Bacon put in consistent times, feeling increasingly comfortable on his Kawasaki KX as the race went on. Three and a half laps of racing, featuring two-time checks and three technical special tests, challenged the world’s enduro elite. The extreme test opened the event: laid out on a rocky hillside, it demanded precision and focus to complete, while the enduro test tested the riders with its single track. The cross test then gave riders the chance to showcase their full speed.

Bacon began to find his pace in the new Enduro 2 class and making his debut in the “premier class,” Bacon held his own. After a slightly slow start, he found the right feeling with both the special tests and the bike, managing to finish a couple of special tests inside the EnduroGP Top 10. He ended his debut in the Enduro 2 class with two Top 10 results and the expectation that, once he regains full fitness, he can be competitive.

Enrico Garelli – Team Manager: “I’m happy with Kyron and how he managed the weekend. His injury didn’t allow him to train, and tackling a Grand Prix with only a few hours of preparation is not easy. As a true professional, he studied the special tests and gave his all. On Sunday, we caught a glimpse of his true potential. Once he regained his feeling on the bike, he was able to set some very good times.”

Kyron Bacon: I’m happy with this weekend and my two ninth-place finishes. Sunday was definitely better than Saturday. I felt much more comfortable on the bike and set some very good times in a few special tests. I can feel the speed coming back, and I’m really pleased about that.
