The twenty-six-year-old from Ancona on the Adriatic coast enters his eleventh season in the FIM World Championship, his fourth in the MXGP class.
After a seven year apprenticeship in MX2, during which time he advanced to represent his country at the Motocross des Nations, the annual world team contest, he established himself in the premier MXGP class in 2018 with a series of solid rides to twenty-third in the final standings before a spectacular advance up the rankings the following year to eventually clinch eleventh in the series with no less than thirteen top ten moto finishes, the highlights being a fifth place in his early-season home GP and a repeat at the penultimate round in Turkey.
He was confidently tipped to make further advances last year but unfortunately a persistent knee injury hampered his efforts to consistently show his proven ability and, despite six top ten moto finishes, he was restricted to fifteenth in the final world rankings. His potential had however not gone unnoticed and KRT boss Thierry Chizat Suzzoni had no hesitation in signing the enthusiastic and talented Italian to join Romain Febvre on the KX450-SR when it became clear that Clement Desalle would end his illustrious career last autumn.
Having undergone knee surgery immediately after the final round of the 2020 MXGP series Ivo was ready at the turn of the year to start riding to acquaint himself with his new steed under the careful direction of team management and acclaimed team coach Jacky Vimond.
The entire team confidently expects a bright future for the sympathetic young man and look forward to seeing him regularly at the sharp end of the races; he has already proven his lightening reflexes and ability to race at the front with no less than four holeshot awards last summer.
